Sky High & Portage Bay Cafe

Last spring, I went to Portage Bay Cafe and Sky High with my friends Hayley, Claire and Taylor. We were glad to have called ahead of time to make a reservation, because the place was packed! Portage Bay is a breakfast/brunch restaurant that boasts its' use of "local, organic, and sustainable" foods in their meals.  They offer many vegetarian and vegan options. Their mimosas are to die for, and their fruit bar is fantastic! I can't wait to go back again.

Later that afternoon, we drove over to Sky High. Sky High is in a large building with "trampoline floors and walls." We bought a one-hour pass which worked out perfectly for us. I tried to do a backflip and fell on my face (because I'm awesome). Jumping for an hour was quite a workout!

Laser Show: The Beatles

For just under $7, my roommates and I went to The Beatles laser show at the Pacific Science Center in downtown Seattle. This was seriously such a fun experience. I sang loud and proud with the laser show. What's cool about these laser shows it that they're all live, the "DJs" always perform new shows with the audience. So fun!

Photo With A Seattle Pig

My best friend Leann lives super close to Pike Place market, and I forced her to come with me to get these photos in the mass of tourists.

Easiest goal yet.

Royal Booze & [No] Burritos / Memo's

Last night, my roommates and I celebrated Cinco De Mayo a week late. Amy's boyfriend, Jorge, brought over a handful of bottles of tequila and taught us all about tequila. We taste-tested, drank Banderas, and pre-funked at home. Around 11PM, decided that we wanted some burritos.

We ventured out to Royal Booze & Burritos on the Ave and 52nd. The bar had dim lighting and a pretty cool vibe. In the back there was an open-roof area that hosted a handful of picnic tables. Unfortunately, we found out that Booze & Burritos stopped selling burritos at 10PM. Disgruntled, we left the bar in search for some greasy Mexican food.

Luckily, Memo's Mexican Food Restaurant on 47th and the Ave was open! When we got there, the place was empty. We all ordered [I got the beef taquitos with cheese] and took a seat. Not long after getting our food, the place really started to fill up. I guess other drunk people had the drunchies too! The food was very cheap, and ultimately, quite tasty. We walked home afterward feeling full and satisfied.

Yogurtland

Today, I finally had a chance to try out the new Yogurtland in University District with my roommate Christine. It's a beautifully warm and sunny day, frozen yogurt accompanied the weather quite nicely.

I definitely don't have a lot of skill in my own frozen yogurt making. I ended up having a little bit of four different flavors: strawberry, almond chocolate mocha, red velvet cupcake batter, cookies & cream. As toppings, I got some strawberries, caramel chocolate, sour gummy worms, chocolate syrup, and of course - sprinkles!

Although my brain was bigger than my stomach, it made for a delicious[ly healthy, ha] lunch!

Fremont Sunday Market

Another sunny weekend morning, another Fremont adventure.

My roommate and I bussed to the Fremont Farmer's Market this morning in hopes of finding some local, fresh produce. However, we did get to see a bunch of super cool booths, sip on delicious smoothies, and visit a park along the Burke Gilman trail. When we were walking to the bus stop, we happened to pass PCC - an organic, semi-local, natural grocery store! Since we are starting to follow the Paleo diet tomorrow, we popped in and bought lots of yummy things.

Such a successful day! The sun always needs to be out in Seattle.

Flying Apron Bakery

Today, my roommates and I went to the Flying Apron Bakery in Fremont, because it is GORGEOUS out and we craved a short adventure.

This bakery is not only gluten-free and vegan - but delicious! I got a berry scone [so good] and iced green jasmine tea. Awesome atmosphere in the bakery/cafe. Great coffee. I definitely plan on going to this bakery again.

The Space Needle

My sister, who is currently choosing between attending UW or NYU in the fall (rough life, right?), decided to come up to Seattle last night so I could show her around campus. Whilst on campus, I showed her: the Quad, Red Square, the fountain, Reboot cafe/CSE building, Kane hall (we crashed the first 10 minutes of a Chemistry class), Suzzallo & Odegaard libraries, and the W on 45th.

Once we returned back to my house, we decided (on a whim) to take the bus down to the Pacific Science Center/Space Needle. I'm super lucky to have a bus stop less than a block away that can take me on the Ave, to Fremont, and to the Science Center.

After paying a hefty $19 per ticket, we entered the elevator of the Space Needle. The employee working on the elevator informed us that it was moving upward at 10MPH. It was really fun riding it because there were big, glass windows that allowed you to see how fast you were moving.

Despite the cold wind on the observation deck, it was really cool to see all of Seattle. It was neat to be able to identify a lot of the neighborhoods. We ate (expensive) snacks while at the top, then (eventually) bussed back to my house.

Sometimes, spontaneous adventures are my favorite kind of adventure.
